The late, great Sherlock Holmes is considered to be one of the greatest detectives ever. The man that created this no doubt legendary character is named Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Sir Conan Doyle has one very extraordinary and interesting life. Born on May 22, 1859, in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, (Editors n.d.) Sir Conan Doyle had quite the talent for entertainment. He wrote his first ever novel, A Study in Scarlett, in 1887 (Editors, n.d.). Though he started writing in the 1870’s his career as a writer did not take off instantly after he published his first novel, instead his career reached it’s peak a few years later, when he started to write regularly. It is commonly known that some stories and adaptations stories could be unsuitable for children. Arthur Conan Doyle displayed precise skill in the technique of using multiple adjectives to describe one thing. He commonly had used multiple adjectives to just describe one noun. His established place in literary history is incredibly high up, given that he has been the primary inspiration for multiple movies and television series. The live action film, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, was the first of many, many movies based off of his works. Unfortunately, nine years before that movie was made, Sir Conan Doyle had died. Never getting to see his works on the silver screen. The British actor who played the brilliant detective himself had quite the big career afterwords starring in fifteen more movies based off of Sherlock Holmes. “Rathbone would go on to make 15 movie in the series, and would be the standard on which all other adaptations would be judged by in the years to come.” (Humphreys.
