This is a complicated question that requires us to look at the situation from different points of view. An individual would answer this question differently depending on whether they were from the south, the north, or an American slave. The north supported the abolition of slavery. Their motives for doing this included morality and wanting to have a fair and just country.
The civil war was known to be one of the most crucial and violent wars in American history. The main cause of the civil war was the controversy between the free and slave states, with the slave states being in the South. President Lincoln pledged to end slavery but the South disagreed with this action. Ending slavery was like ruining the South’s income.
