Should Sleep Deprivation be allowed as an interrogation technique? According to Carolyn Gregoire, Senior Health & Science Writer, Huffington Post, “Sleep deprivation completely erodes the mind and body, and could eventually lead to death.” It may be a shock to most people that extended sleep deprivation can be deadly. However, this is a truth. The extension of the lack of sleeping is a miserable due to the fact that it has a bad impact on both spiritual and bodily fitness (Gregoire). In the end, people will be out of their minds, bursting out crying and chuckling undisciplinedly (Gregoire). The symptoms due to staying late can also show the effects of sleep deprivation. My mom once told me her own experience of working late till midnight for a whole week. At first, she was all right, having coffee for the entire night. Later on, she began to notice that she had some endocrine-metabolic anomaly. To cure the illness, she stopped staying up late to finish the work. Soon enough, she had a speedy recovery and immobilized this damaging habit. Our fragile bodies are influenced by the lack of sleeping in the view of the fact that slows down our re-established movements (Schnyer, quoted in Gregoire). On the other hand, having good rest is also a way to improve people’s look. Alternatively, if one doesn’t get enough sleep, he or she will slow death like a whirlwind and will seem to be older. Following the missing of one night’s sleep, fundamental understanding tasks start to collapse (Gregoire). Take myself as an example. One day, I didn't go to sleep until it was four o’clock in the morning in order to finish my homework. The upcoming day of school,
I couldn't follow what the teacher was talking about. Though I stayed awake, my mind was still asleep in the morning that day, but I still misbehaved badly. What about the prisoners who are forbidden from having a sleep or even taking a nap? They may act more odd and wander around, having no idea about what to do and misconducting themselves. According to Schnyer, “Emotion regulation is also disrupted.” (quoted in Gregoire) . That is, the prisoner have no ability to control their own reaction, showing and crying but suddenly turning to laughing like psychopaths
