SMART objectives are those which use a well-known acronym to help us succeed in achieving goals. Help ensure that your objectives are more than just wishes by making sure they are SMART. That’s to say any objectives you set should be: Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-framed.
i. Specific – so that everyone knows exactly what is to be achieved. ii. Measurable-sets out the level to be achieved. iii. Attainable- relevant staff are involved in setting the objectives and are committed to keeping them. iv. Relevant- to the organization ’s overall purpose.
v. Time-framed-to ensure that it will fit within the organization ’s overall plans.
