280 Words2 Pages
Delbo uses different examples of literary devices through out her story to make her writing memorable. She uses smilie technique to describe her first impression on arrival to Auschwitz. When she arrived, she was faced with barbed wire and watch towers. She states “Barbed wire white like sugar” (5). In this case, this simile creates a picture in the reader’s mind of how cold outside is. Delbo uses another literary device, Irony to characterize her emotions in a letter. In this letter she writes ‘“Would that person who finds this be kind enough to notify _____ in _____ that her daughter’’_____ or “his wife” or “her sister” – “Christine” or “Suzanne” or “Marcelle”- has been deported to Germany. We are in good spirits. See you soon (4). This
