The words “my pleasure” and “have a wonderful day” mean a lot to Chick-Fil-A and the customer. The CEO, Dan Cathy, cherishes the training they implement on their employees to make them more polite. Business Insider reported that “Chick-Fil-A employees said ‘thank you’ in 95.2% of drive-thru encounters” (Taylor). And when the line gets too long for the drive-thru, Chick-Fil-A will send out their own drive-thru teams to take orders with a tablet from people. Rain or shine, those employees will be out there working hard for the customer whenever the drive-thru is too busy.
Barbara Ehrenreich describes to us what she believes today’s world thinks about the definition of civility. Her purpose is to argue about the misconception of civility. She believes that “competitive gratitude” is not what having etiquette is about and that it is absolutely absurd to be forced into fake politeness. Ehrenreich uses satire and irony to clearly differentiate between civility and unnecessary flattery. In her second sentence, Ehrenreich uses the oxymoron “heck-no” and “with all due respect” together to mock the critics that claim that America needs a little more civility.
The Transition of Civility In today’s commercial age, many of us have experienced awkwardness in the conversations with service workers. In “The Civility Glut”, Barbara Ehrenreich addresses the issue of excessive formality and politeness within day to day communications in America. She begins with examples of the so called “civility glut” in the popular media and her personal life, then gives background information explaining why this is happening. Her transition in rhetorical approach from comedic narrative to thoughtful definition has played an important role in directing reader’s attention and opinion.
“Be kindly affectioned one to another with brotherly love; in honor preferring one another” (Romans 12:10). Long ago, there was a time when courtesy emerged. During that time, civilization valued standards, morals, etiquette, and politeness. Certain regulations existed for speech, which ensured no one was confused or unnecessarily offended. There were also numerous laws regarding behavior, which made sure everyone’s needs were cared for and no one was harmed, insulted, or excluded.

Whether it's helping with cleaning up after an event or donating to my community, I will always be willing to help out. I have many good skills and assets that can help me be better in my community and push myself in school and work. I have a lot of knowledge from over the years. I know how to apply my knowledge in my everyday life
This semester in my English class I was assigned a service essay, which is where we students go out and pick some sort of community service and participate in the one chosen, of course after being approved by our instructor. We were informed of this essay from the start of the class, I ended up participation in two community services. The first one I did was I went down to the Young at Heart Senior Center here and town and just helped out around the center and visited with all the attendants. The second one I participated in was the Toys for Tots or Toys for Kids fundraiser. Out of these two I happened to find the Toys for Tots fundraiser more interesting and easier to write about.
“ I have done things too, which I will not tell you,” Mrs.Luella Bates Washington Jones said to Roger the boy that tried to steal her purse. In the story “ Thank You Ma 'am ” I believe that Mrs Jones is caring because Mrs. Jones brings Roger into her house, and tries to help Roger. The most obvious why Mrs.Jones is caring is because she lets Roger into her house even when he tried to steal her purse, I know I would never just let him in my house if he tried to steal my purse I would of called the police. First of all she brings Roger to her house and then makes him dinner. I would never make a boy dinner who tried to steal my purse.
I even took rides from strangers who took pity on me walking at times and I was so cold I would take advantage of their generosity. When my father was out of town Ashley didn’t take time to take me home, either. She took time to pick up her own children or had her mother pick them up, but not me. I refused to ride the bus and they didn’t understand. I never would say why.
In regards to this particular assignment, as the Director of the National Economic Council I need to offer my position on the energy policy while also analyzing the domestic and international economic impact. To begin, the energy bill needs to propose solutions to addressing the multiplicity of growing problems, technological advancements/ obstacles, international political events, changing energy needs, and environmental concerns. Also, the comprehensive energy policy needs to not only meet the economic goals of the nation but also environmental goals. Therefore, the policy positions of both the Director of the National Economic Council and the organization at large are important in effectively creating a comprehensive energy bill.
In Thank You Ma 'am” by Langston Hughes, Mrs. Luella Bates Washington Jones showed the golden Rule by bringing Rodger into her home. She showed much hospitality towards him, even though he tried to do something horrible to her. Mrs. Jones could have done something cruel to Roger, but instead she was kind to him. She taught him a valuable life lesson, although she was not mean about it. Following the golden rule in life is very important for everyone, you should always follow this rule, no matter what.
Civility and Incivility Communication Behavior analyze Defensive and Nondefense Behavior In the workplace, workers communicate with each other’s in different way because of their characteristics and personal problem in life affect behavior in communication. The most common communication I will be comparing and contrast between civility and incivility. Also, this affect the message comes from defensive and nondefense communication. It affects in working environment, the feeling or emotions by proving a real life examples behavior approach in scenarios.
Ever since I can remember I have always wanted to make a difference and help anyone in need that I possibly could. From the start of my childhood, I can recall helping my mother care for my great grandparents, so they would be able to live out the rest of their lives from their home, instead of in a nursing home. As a young child it was extremely difficult to live with and watch my loved ones deteriorate as they got older, as their condition got worse and worse, and saw my mother having a difficult time keeping up with caring for both of my great grandparents 24/7, it put a lot of stress on the family. However, I am grateful to have been able to help my mother care for them. Growing up in such a caring and loving household made the situation
Commonly when approaching a peer, teacher, or a stranger, the first phrase to be said is often a form of polite speech. Polite speech can be categorized by the use of phrases that show regards for others. With some people backing the sense that what is said is portrayed as literal speech, most of it is said for the sake of sounding welcoming and responsible. Having polite speech implemented into people’s day to day lives serves the function of creating a well developed impression of a person.
I have so many wonderful reasons to be thankful. Being thankful allows you to experience life to the fullest. I believe it is important to be thankful for my family and friends. Thankfulness allows you to appreciate what you have so you take care of your things. We should appreciate what we are given and use them with care.
