By doing my own research, I can try to be culturally competent on spirituality with Native Americans and this way I can better understand where my client is coming from instead of having no background knowledge and making them explain it all to me. Gay, Lesbian, and Bisexual persons: One of the most diverse and discriminated populations is gay, lesbian, and bisexual persons. As a social worker, it is important to recognize the challenges they face on a daily basis to understand their point of view. Working with adult gay, lesbian, or bisexual persons can be difficult at first, as is working with any group that is diversely different from you.
