• How have you grown in self-awareness through this course? This course helped me to develop and recognize my personal values and attitudes insightfully. I kept learning and thinking more about myself, in terms of my personality, strengths, weaknesses, beliefs, and likes and dislikes through the skill of self-awareness. Coming from an Asian cultural background, I learned that my thoughts, values, and attitudes were different from people who were born and raised in the United States. The course has helped me to become more aware of myself in terms of how my cultural background influences my personal values, thoughts, and behaviors. For example, in a complex situation, I have tended to avoid conflict and ignored the situation instead of choosing a course of action to resolve the problem. I recognize that in order to produce a high-quality decision, I need focus more on taking control of my emotions, behaviors, and personality and utilize my critical thinking skills to search for the best answers with an open mind during crisis situations. • What do you see as your special contributions to the social work profession? Studying social work has led me to seek opportunities for people who are going through difficult situations.
