The Renaissance time period improved and added many new styles of art for others to use. “The clearest evidence of the break with medieval culture comes from the visual arts. the new artistic styles echo the broader movement and interests of the new age” (Document A). This shows that the Renaissance time period was when art was starting to become more popular and influential towards other people. As a result, many other people in the years past the Renaissance time have tried to emulate those paintings and artwork.
Art reached new heights during the Renaissance. Many new techniques and styles emerged such as perspective, chiaroscuro, and sfumato. Before the Renaissance, artists focused primarily on religious scenes and Gothic art. During the Renaissance, artists began to focus more on realism and human qualities. Renaissance artists also began to lean towards Roman and Greek styles/ideas for inspiration.

Although the Baroque and Neoclassical styles that had dominated the seventeenth century continued into the eighteenth century, by the 1730’s a new style known as Rococo began to influence and spread decoration and architecture all over Europe. Rococo art emphasized grace and gentle action. Rococo rejected strict geometrical patterns and had a fondness for curves, it liked to follow the wandering lines of natural objects, such as seashells and flowers.
Religion. Most, if not all art from that time had to do with God. There was either a hidden meaning about God, or the focus was just there. But during the Renaissance, all that changed. People began to view art in different ways.
One way paintings demonstrate this is the difference between the Mona Lisa and Madonna Enthroned Between Two Angels. The older painting, Madonna Enthroned Between Two Angles, is unrealistic and has rather depressing dark colors. While the Renaissance painting, the Mona Lisa, is not only much more realistic, but also a lot more cheerful, brighter feel, and became a true masterpiece (Doc A). In the paintings, the fact the Renaissance painting is brighter, more realistic and a famous masterpiece, shows that the Renaissance changed the art style into a unique, amazing representation that changed the entire future of art. The paintings from the Renaissance showed that people saw each other differently than before( Doc A).

Neoclassicism resulted from this new era of intellect and challenged artists to include these new themes and styles into their artworks. The Classical tradition has had great influence on Renaissance artists; their contributions provided a foundation in which to improve upon and the Renaissance artists did not hold back in doing so. The Renaissance brought a new appreciation and new artworks to understand their world; naturalism completely spread through Europe and commanded the artistic scene. The art of Greece and Rome affected Renaissance because of its ability to create works of art centered on the human body in a natural environment. The Romans veristic style certainly flowed over into the 1700s; Renaissance artists wanted to improve upon the sculpture works of the ancient Greeks and Romans.

There is no doubt that classical tradition continued to influence art in the 1700 's, especially since it still effects art today. During the 1700 's there were also many differences that set art an artists apart from that classical style. Some of the similarities are a little more obvious to me than the differences. In both era 's, body 's looked idealized, and often times active.
These Baroque elements are so engrained in the system of patronage that even outside the Baroque era when an artist is commissioned through the patronage system their work can’t help but take on these and other baroque elements. Starting with an artist like Bernini who under the patronage system created some of the most revered sculptures of the baroque era. Born in Naples, Italy Bernini got a lot of his patronage form Italians. One of his more notable patronages includes the sculpture of “The Ecstasy of St. Teresa” which was commission by the Cornaro family for their personal chapel. The sculpture represents a deeply religious act and was used in part to show off the wealth of the Conaro family.
Although the two eras overlap, the Baroque era and the Enlightenment differ drastically from one another. Generally pictured and thought of as an artistic movement, the Baroque era eventually led to the Enlightenment, a more philosophical-based movement. In the Baroque era, people gained fame for their artistic talents. During the Enlightenment, people gained fame due to their scientific ideas and work.
Baroque music is a style of western art music. It was followed after the Renaissance music and was followed in turn by classical music. It emerged in the seventeenth century as a shorthand notation for keyboardists who were accompanying a soloist or small ensemble performing a work originally composed for a larger group. Key composers of the Baroque music are Antonio Vivaldi, Johann Sebastian Bach, Henry Purcell, Arcangelo Corelli, Alessandro Scarlatti, Jean Philippe Rameau, Johann Pachelbel, George Frideric Handle, Claudio Monteverdi Domenico Scarlatti and many others.
The Baroque period on the other hand, spanning 150 years from the beginning of the 1600s to 1750, was divided into three parts: The Early Baroque period, The Middle Baroque period and The Late Baroque period. While these two eras start right after each other, there are a lot of differences between them, this shows how much music can evolve through time. There are many similarities and differences in characteristics between the two periods. They’re both very similar in texture, in that they’re both polyphonic.
