Ryder Adams Mrs. Holliday H English 10 4/6/2023 Anagrams, Hallucinating, and Poems The novel Long Way Down by Jason Reynolds is a story about the life experiences of a young man, Will, as a teenager in the hood. He is determined to get revenge for his brother, who was murdered. This novel tells the story of his experience finding out his brother was murdered and then going to avenge him. The Long Way Down is an excellent read, in my opinion, due to its poetic composition and descriptive, minute-long format.
Johnny Cash is to country music as candy is to children. Even though it has been many years since he made music, people still see him as a country music idol. Cash turned around many people’s views on country music, won 11 Grammys, and was inducted into the Songwriters, Rock and Roll, and Country Music Hall of Fame, making him one of the greatest musicians of our time. Johnny was influenced greatly by his family as a child. In the Cash family, when things got tough, they all joined in to sing gospel songs.
Johnny Cash was born in Kingsland, Arkansas, to Ray and Carrie, and was raised in Dyess, Arkansas. His father Ray Cash, was a farmer, hobo, and odd job laborer. Ray and his son Roy, worked hard developing their government subsidized farmland when Johnny was older he then joined them. After working in the fields during the day, Johnny would listen to the radio at night, picking out the Memphis stations with their mix of country and blues songs. He began playing guitar and writing songs, which he was taught by his mother and a close friend.
John R. Cash, or as we know him, Johnny Cash, was a very interesting person in Arkansas history. In fact, if you’re going to live in Arkansas, you may want to know at least something about him. Maybe his most popular songs, or maybe you would even like to know about his personal life. Johnny Cash wrote lots of great songs, but since there are too many to name, here are his most popular songs. ‘ A Boy Named Sue’ is the first song that I found.

The song I chose is called “Ring of Fire” by Johnny Cash and the topic of this song is love. The theme of the song argues about love and how it can make our lives for the better or for the worst. The song starts out with “Love is a burnin' thing”, throughout the progression of the song, Johnny Cash talks about how love can burn. The song talks about how the artist, Johnny Cash fell into the “Ring of Fire” which represents love and how it can burn to be in a failing relationship. The song then goes on and says how the “flames got higher” which represents how love can turn for the worst and how it can only get worse.
Frank Ocean once said, “When you 're happy, you enjoy the music. But when you 're sad, you understand the lyrics.” Why does one have to be sad to “understand the lyrics”? Evaluating a song and being given the ability to relate enhances one’s respect for the composer. For example, when one first listens to “Danny’s Song” by Kenny Loggins, they probably believe the song is about love, however, once a person analyzes the lyrics the realize that the song is actually a story of a couple who are having a baby boy.
For this discussion I choose a musician Louise Armstrong song from Pandora. When I type Louis Armstrong song, there were hundreds of his records. I choose a “Stardust” track from the album called “Don 't Get Around Much Anymore “. This song is composed by the popular song composer by Hoagy Carmichael in 1927. This song has many versions that recorded by other jazz great musician added to Armstrong.
you don’t even have to read the lyrics to tell what happened to him and all of the Johnny Cash you know his relationship with June. His time in jail, and his appetite for drugs, there is no shortage of little slices of the man in black’s life that aren’t served up in most versions of his story. Johnny Cash was a “hero” as some people might say because everyone looks up to the musician.. At first cash played guitar and bass; then in the end he ended up playing guitar. John R. Cash had began playing guitar and writing songs at 12.
He can spend hours circling the parking lot looking for a spot near the store or he can easily park a few yards away and get some exercise. Have you heard the Cowboy Junkies' cover of Hank Williams' song I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry? The program's cost is well over $1 billion dollars. The community center's address is 94-1201 Mojave Desert Drive, San Jose, California 95102.
Johnny Cash left a legacy behind after he passed away. He left his name shining on a bright golden plate. On his story it shows me how hard he tried. How he recorded songs and kept trying to get a recording from a studio. It shows me how hard I will have to try.
Citizen: An American Lyric by Claudia Rankine is a hybrid and communal text constructed out of varying poetic form accompanied by contrasting imagery, and historical events. Rankine, although the author of this text is not necessarily its narrator. She plays with prospective, switching the fundamental meaning of “you” and pulls from the personal experiences of her friends, colleagues, and surrounding community. Rankine is able to incorporate “an emphasis on impressionism and subjectivity in [her] writing”, blur the line between various genres, and “[reject] … elaborate formal aesthetics in favor of minimalist design”, which are the pillars of postmodern works (Klages). She utilizes historical and modern events such as the Jim Crow laws, affirmative
As you are thrown into the air your heart starts to race and the smile on your face grows, you know it's what you want to be doing. Growing up always wanting to be a cheerleader, this year I decided to try out. convincing my childhood best friend Maggie to also try out and make the team together. In all honesty it felt like it came naturally to both of us, learning the tryout material was quite simple.
The five song playlist that I chose is Fireworks, Set fire to the rain, The way, Love the way you lie and Firestones. All of these songs relates to the novel in different ways. The song Fireworks by katy Perry relates to the novel Fahrenheit 451 because in this song it is saying if you ever feel Like a plastic bag drifting through the wind wanting to start again. Guy Montag had committed mistakes that he might regretted.
Willie Nelson’s September Song describes how time gets faster each day. Constantly throughout the song, Nelson describes these days in the autumn season as “Special days” and how they dwindle down every second. One piece of lyric really gets to me: “ Oh, it 's a long long while From May to December But the days grow short When you reach September.” This really gets to me because I remember the days where I woke in the morning and it was dark, and when I got out of school in the early afternoon, it only took an hour to get dark again.
