Taking command does not mean shouting out orders. Leadership focuses on encouraging people. In todays’ world,
For example, Mr. Robb says that for the next CEO, “[he] would think the next leader would come from inside the company. This culture’s just too strong for somebody to drop in from outside.” This exemplifies dedication to the people who have been there for years, and to reward them for their hard work. The co-CEOs have dedicated their time and effort into making the company a great place for communication with their employees and that they are planning for the future. Organizational culture is the foundation for organizations to strive and maintain success. Since the People’s Bank Theatre reopened in January of 2016, an opportunity for volunteer coordinator Sarah Eels to establish an accepting culture where all volunteers, theatre staff, and performers alike feel welcome arose. With the theatre now being in commission for a bit over a year now, the foundations of such a culture are beginning to form. Throughout this essay, I will use Edgar Schein’s synthesis of organizational culture to critique the environment forming at the People’s Bank Theatre. To begin, Sarah does a fantastic job at the initial portion of the training process by establishing the expectations and norms of the volunteers. Before I could step foot into the line of the customer, I underwent an hour and a half workshop lead by Sarah and any other new volunteers that basically overviewed the different procedures we, as volunteers, were expected to know and apply during our time in the theatre.

My view on the people process culture is that there are five factors that create a company culture they are leadership, career opportunities, communication, rewards, and relationships. For leadership I think we need mangers who have worked their way up in the company and know how certain functions work and are know how to fix a problem when it occurs. I think when company’s hire someone who has education but not the experience this will cause problems. Because the manager doesn’t understand the technical skills that a worker has. Leadership can also affect the work environment which can be positive or negative.

For an organization to be successful, the employees are required to work in harmony to achieve its goals. Because leadership involves the exhibition of style or behavior by managers or supervisors while dealing with subordinates, leadership is a critical determinant of the employees’ actions toward the achievement of the organizational goals. Included in this paper are my areas of focus are management style, communication, motivation, decision making, and future goals. After a semester of learning all about behavior management it is safe to say I have started creating my own type of management style. When I become a manager I would consider my management style to be affiliative-authoritative.
The Importance of a Company’s Culture The culture of a company is one of the most important and sometimes overlooked factors in an organization. The culture can increase employee engagement and increase productivity which will allow a company to reach its goals, “From productivity and engagement in the organization’s day-to-day, to an employer brand that naturally fuels recruiting efforts, to creating a lasting brand that customers immediately recognize, there’s no escaping it – culture radiates outward into the marketplace” (Straz 2015). The culture can have a great impact on the employees. Employees thrive in a positive working environment and the ability to engage with their managers without fear of retaliation.
If the behavior theory can identify the key determinants of leadership, people can actually train to become a leader. This is the premise of the management development plan. There are many different types of behavioural leadership styles. Each style suggests that the leadership role is based on the leaders’ concern for the people being led and the level of achievement that needs to be
In this leadership style the group will be successful since the manager takes the inputs of team members into consideration, this would help the group to communicate well with the manager and also understand what the task is to be done and how they may go about doing
‘Organizations provide its managers with legitimate authority to lead, but there is no assurance that they will be able to lead effectively’ (Lunenburg, 2011). Organizational success usually requires a combination of both management and leadership. In today’s dynamic work environment, leaders are expected to challenge the present state of affairs, and to motivate and convince organization members. Managers are needed to assist in creating and maintaining a positive and well-functioning workplace. ‘Leadership and management are often considered practically overlapping concepts’ (Bohoris and Vorria, 2007, p. 1).
