Spring Awakening (Rough Draft) I believe that the central theme of Spring Awakening was teenage students finding themselves both sexually and spiritually in a time where the rules dictated your lifestyle. A great example of this is Melchior Gabor. He is not afraid to think outside of the box, unlike some of his peers. He knows that there 's more information than is being shared with the young men and women, so he doesn’t hesitate to challenge the beliefs. Everyone seems so confused with the changes to their bodies and their sexual arousals. Melchior appears to be the only one who knows what 's going on. One part of the play that really got to me emotionally was when Moritz Stiefel passed away. His funeral scene was executed very well …show more content…

The set lacked modern technology, which is perfect for the 1890’s. The female characters costumes didn’t show much to any skin throughout the play. This helped portray the celibate lifestyle that was forced upon the women of this time. I also liked the way that the adults walked. It was a very oldschool, stuck-up, know it all style of walk. I thought Bucknell 's take on Spring Awakening had a well rounded cast filled with talented actors. Brendan Trybus was good at portraying a curious young man who was slightly defiant and Rodney West is the perfect actor for a nervous wreck. The actors were good at giving off a sad struggling lifestyle, but they also could add some humor without making it awkward. I believe that the actors sounded flat at times while singing, but overall it is very difficult to sing on a stage like that for two and a half hours. The actors kept their composure and some shined in the spotlight. I applaud them for that. I could see myself playing Melchior. I believe that I am good with the love aspect of plays. I think I can play a loved struct man who struggles to get a woman out of his head pretty well. I would like to see how the emotional parts would have gone after deaths of Moritz and Wendla. It is a challenge that would make the whole process fun. I would also like the spotlight rather than a supporting
