As soon as my mother and I walked into the chapel at St. Thomas More, we both felt as if I belonged there, for the presence of the cross of St. Francis was very important to us. During a challenging time in my mother’s life, the sisters of St. Francis helped her, and later as an Alverno student, she wanted to pass those values onto her family. I feel as if St. Thomas More is a good fit for me based on my personal values, the courses you offer, and how those will support my plans for the future. For as long as I’ve known about St. Thomas More, I’ve wanted to attend the school. I personally believe that St. Thomas More lives by the values of servant leadership. I was taught that the 11 themes of student leadership were calling, awareness, stewardship, listening, persuasion, growth, empathy, foresight, community building, healing, and conceptualization. From recently visiting your school, I have seen all of these themes in the entirety of your school. Upon entering, everyone was very helpful and welcoming. The reasons these aspects are so important to me is because my mother has taught me these values, and I have come to respect your school even more than before after being there firsthand. Thomas More offers many of the classes I wish to take. For a long time, I’ve aspired to be a psychologist. To be a psychologist you require high levels of math, english, science, and health skills, and I plan on trying my very best to exceed in those areas. I am currently in algebra, and am exceptionally thrilled to be welcomed into geometry and trigonometry. I know for a fact that you’re going to need good writing and communication skills to be a good psychologist, and I am looking forward to joining forensics to help me prepare for these assets.
