Drama Assessment Task S1 Task 2 Non Realist Devised Group Performance Isolation is being separated from other people or environments. In my group’s performance, Hazy Memories, we used several theories and techniques of the two dramatic forms studied to communicate the theme of isolation. Through different Epic Theatre and Absurdist techniques we communicated the theme of isolation, by the use of a circular plot line, an episodic structure, music, gestures, and characters all in black. We used the technique of a circular plot line and placards to show the isolation of a man who develops dementia over time.

As an actress and stagehand for the New York Civic Theatre, I am committed to a career in the entertainment business. Over the past twelve years, I have worked on every aspect of set design and production, mastering the endless technical challenges that live theatre presents. Consequently, I am equally comfortable constructing sets, sewing costumes, stringing lights and running lines with famous actors. Even after all these years, I have not lost my passion for the business. I still get goose bumps on opening night when I watch the combined energy of the production company come together for the first time in front of a live audience.
During the theatrical production the actors preforms tasks that should be preformed by crew members. The actors bring on props onto the stage. This ruins the affect that the characters have on spectator. For instance, the actors bring on the signs, previous to preforming the scene. On March 28th, I had the pleasure of attending the Broadway show called “The Play That Goes Wrong,” located at the Lycuem Theatre on 149 West 45th Street. On this particular Tuesday evening, I just had a vibe that something wrong was going to happen in this play – shockingly. I did believe this play will truly be memorable judging by the fun quirk of the show’s name. After watching the performance for about two hours, I can conclude that this play went beyond my expectation as its set disasters and characters amusingly caught the attention of me and the rest of the audience.

I, on the other hand, dream of working behind the scenes, and of being a part of the team that makes these performances and productions possible. Music and the arts are my passion, and I plan to work in the management, promotion and advocacy of arts organizations both nationally and internationally. Pursuing an M.A./M.B.A. dual degree in Arts Administration at the University of Cincinnati is the next step for me to achieve my life goals.
