Standardized Testing
Standardized tests are deeply flawed ,and cause many issues in the school system. Like mental abuse to children and making their only goal about their test scores. This also causes stress for teachers who have children who struggle with Testing. Standardized tests should not be allowed in the schooling system. It doesn't show how smart a student is and it causes too many problems with both teachers and students.

It tells how smart students are, what college they will go to, it basically tells students how successful they will be. Having something this controlling isn’t good to have. It just shows which students are good at test taking and who is not. That's why “Standardized achievement tests are deeply flawed, and test-based accountability has been terribly damaging to public education.”(Starr). These tests do not provide any feedback on how to perform better. Students do not get their results until months later on. The teachers do not even get instructions on how to teach it and hardly get any feedback. The test only covers students' general knowledge, not specific stuff. Having children who stress so much about a test and only want a good score just is not good so “I tell my kids that standardized tests don't mean anything in the long run and that they'll never have to take such tests once they start working (unless it's for a certification of some kind). I tell my kids that I value them as people, not scores” (Starr). Standardized testing puts too much stress on children now-a-days and it makes them worry too much and not live their life as teens. It doesn’t allow the teacher to teach the kids the stuff that will help them grow. They can’t teach them critical thinking skills or open them up to being creative and learning deeper skills that will help you evolve as a person.So without all of that kids are stuck with stressing out and having anxiety or even depression because of a grade. These kids base their knowledge and how smart they are on these tests and it lowers their self esteem.”Younger students are optimistic and rely only on support from their teachers and rewards to feel that they are doing good. But by the time students are in middle school, their attitude relies solely on their test scores and their grades”(Brown). Kids rely on their teachers and parents for support. They want to know they are doing good. But with these kids having this mindset, they only care about one thing, only their test grades.
