It is known that standardized tests are a clear and easy manner to evaluate a bunch of people, but are they the best? Do they completely achieve their function? They were implemented in institutions more than 20 years ago, and not much of the original mentality has changed. They have the same purpose, the same procedure, and the same effects. How they work is based on the results obtained, what they intend to do is judge the academic effectiveness of a school, and the knowledge of its students. There are different types of these tests, which are focused on either aptitude or achievement. Standardized tests have some positive aspects, but they are not exploited to their maximum, and threfore make a lot of people unhappy. However, they cannot be eliminated because such tool is the most accessible, and required in every step of life. If only students like me, and others around the world could come together to think of a way in which we could be more integrally evaluated, there wouldn’t be as many problems. Drastic changes don’t even have to be implemented right away. Instead, small changes year after year can lead to a better future, but in order to do this, we must keep moving. Get this topic out of its dormant period, which has been long enough, and progress it into a satisfactory change. Maybe take into account what a good school should have, and how a successful student should be, outside from reading comprehension or a complicated math problem. Include creative aspects of the mind, and dig into the uniqueness of the individuals. Probably the most important thing that needs to be done is break the mold we have all been forced into, in order to embrace what each of us is made out of. Basically answer the question: what makes me a good citizen/student/son/daughter/person in todays’ world? We better get
