Daniel James Brown gave a very informative yet engaging nonfiction narrative of the historical tragedy Sarah Graves and her family acquainted themselves very well with that began in the spring of 1846 in Illinois. The Graves family originally set out to California in hopes of a greater life so they submitted themselves to the opportunity that was actually further from their reach than anticipated. Along with the rest of the Donner Party, a group led by two Donner brothers also setting off to California, they were rashly persuaded into the dangerous and unpromising terrain of the West following the unspoken but written direction of Lansford W. Hastings, an emigrant who presumed there was a simpler route to the California through the Wasatch

In Arthur C. Clarke’s short story, “The Star,” an unnamed character effectively discusses how he coincides science and religion in his daily life. The protagonist is a Jesuit and an astrophysicist on an exploratory spacecraft. The main character has an internal locus of control because of the duality between his job findings and his original religious views. Within the short story, there are various literary devices used. The narrator uses the biblical allusion of “God’s handiwork,” compares the Phoenix Nebula to the resurrection of Jesus Christ, and the irony of a supernova destroying an entire civilization to save mankind.

The Circinus Galaxy (ESO 97-G13) is a Seyfert galaxy[2] in the Circinus constellation - and one of the closest to the Milky Way[3] (see also NGC 185). It is only 4 degrees below the Galactic plane, and 13 million light-yearsaway. The galaxy is undergoing tumultuous changes, as rings of gas are being ejected from the galaxy. The outermost ring is 700 light-years from the center of the galaxy and the inner ring is 130 light-years out. Although the Circinus galaxy can be seen using a small telescope, it was not noticed until 1977[4] because it lies close to the plane of the Milky Way and is obscured by galactic dust.
If you got the chance to go back in time and change a past event, would you? Keep in mind that it would also alter the present. Every single human being is different, whether in race, religion, mentality or emotions, that is why discrepancies will forever be unavoidable. Gladly, despite those aspects, human beings have found a way to almost completely set aside one of the most deep scars in history, slavery. Mark Twain openly writes about this topic in his book, The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn.

Astronomy is essential all over the world. It is significant to many cultures including Native American, African, Greek, Chinese, Hawaiian, and many more. Ancient astronomy was first used to do things like tell time and direction. For some cultures, it was also used for religion. I want to focus on astronomy in the Hawaiian culture.

The female body has consistently been a topic of debate among society. What were once considered powerful and mighty by the Ancient Greek and other Old World cultures, the breasts and vagina are now perceived as taboo and dirty. Over time, society has discouraged women from enjoying their bodies and has taught them to be ashamed of their “naturally deficient and defective genitalia”. While men are allowed to flaunt their sexuality and boast (often falsely) about the size of their penises, Women are told to suppress their sexual desires. The changes in cultural perceptions of the female body ultimately began when women became more prominent in the workforce which led to the patriarchal need to destroy the image of the female.
Ancient Greek Astronomy Molten spheres orbit around a huge searing ball of hydrogen, collecting gas and dust on a bed of glimmering pinpoints of light. The gargantuan, gaseous orb in the center bursts to life, blasting solar wind to wipe away the excess material. The planets cool and become our solar system as we know it. The sun, planets and stars have influenced the ancient Greek astronomers to attempt to figure out systems to explain the mysteries of the universe.
Bright stars fill the Milky Way galaxy with beauty. Many solar systems revolve around the galaxy. The Milky Way is the galaxy we live in. Even though many people only know the Milky Way as the galaxy we live in, there is actually a lot more to it than you may think. 1.
