The Port and Starboard Lightfish looks like a Pineapple. It is very exciting to observe this fish and its unique features. The Port and Starboard Lightfish is also known as the Knight fish, the Coat of Mail Fish and the Pineapple fish. It is commonly seen in harbors and reefs in the Queensland in Australia. The Port and Starboard Lightfish prefers to live in waters that are about 6 to 200 meters in depth. This fish can grow up to 8.7 inches and it is plump in size. Also, it can bring that spirit of adventure into your tank.
Most Scuba divers have been reported to sight the Port and Starboard Lightfish. However, it can be quite challenging to photograph this fish. It likes to hide in rocks and caves. Furthermore, the fish is not ideal for Human consumption. It has a very spiky body which makes it unwholesome for the human body. This is one of the reasons why it got the name – Coat of Mail Fish. The hardy body makes it difficult for predators to be able to consume it. Also, the body has been found to help it adapt to various environments prevalent in a tank. It is important to mention that this fish is sturdy and can withstand most diseases that attack other fishes. The Port and Starboard Lightfish is easy to maintain and it can feed on anything that you give to it. There is no need to go into so much detail as the basic care is okay for this fish.
The design of the Port and Starboard Lightfish goes from yellow to white. Also, there is a Red stripe that runs across its body. This fish does not hold much interest to commercial sea trawlers. It is the Salt water enthusiasts that keep aquarium that enjoy its offering. The Pectoral fin of this fish can hold up to 14-15 rays while the anal fin holds up to 11 to 12 rays.
