In the article, “Starbucks Serves Up 'Flat Whites,' Tries to Prove It Can Still Be Different”, it talks about how Starbucks is trying to bring a new drink to the United States market. The article than goes on to state on how it has already been serving the Flat White in Australia and how it was a big hit with the market there. Than it goes on to talk about how Starbucks is unsure on how the United States market might react to their new drink. The reason they are worried is because they state on how different region, have different perception on what they like. For example, one country make like a certain product, but in another country it may not be popular and might end up being a failure to the company that is trying to expand to other countries.

Starbucks believed this was a smart move to do because they know they have a lot of customers that love going to their stores and that will be more than willing to try one of their new products. Another way the article over Starbucks new drink relates to the class is because they have a somewhat sustainable competitive advantage over a lot of the other coffee shops. We also learned about sustainable competitive advantages in chapter 2. Two ways that Starbucks has a sustainable advantage over the other coffee shops is locations and customer service and reputation. The way that Starbucks has the location advantage over the other coffee places, is that they are known to be on university’s ground.
