Cade Young Borger Middle School NJHS Application Essay May 10, 2023 Being accepted for membership in the National Junior Honor Society would be a great honor. The National Junior Honor Society will be an opportunity for me to show that even with a learning disability like dyslexia. Hard work strong determination and willingness you can overcome any obstacles you face. I know I can be a valuable member of the NJHS because, I carry all the qualities required by this organization: character, citizenship, leadership and service. I quickly learned that tennis is part of an honor system. My character led me to speak up and do the right thing even when no one was watching. An example of my leadership skills is when I reached out to a group of kids at my past school explaining to them the golden rule “treat others the way you would want to be treated”. Instead of excluding others that not necessarily know how to play football, to treat them with kindness and show them how to play the game. I firmly believe everyone should have the opportunity to try something new without being judged. During the summer of 2022, I was visiting my grandparents house with my older brother. My grandmother had a medical emergency while it was just my brother and I. My grandmother appeared to have a seizure for several minutes after she fell. I did not panic and checked her pulse. I learned that from watching a video. I told my brother to call my dad, while my dad was on his way my grandmother stood up but was very incoherent. My grandmother could barely stand up and keep her balance. I stood by her side holding her up and talking to her until my dad arrived. I believe this is an example of my leadership and service under a stressful situation. The skills mentioned can be useful not only at school but also in the community, where I always try to take an active
