He attended the University of Southern Maine for his undergraduate degree and he is currently pursing a graduate degree at the California University of Pennsylvania. His words of wisdom were to love the job and be ready to work. He also said that if you didn’t love the job you wouldn’t want to do the work.
My career goal in the exercise science and wellness field would be becoming an athletic trainer. I enjoy playing and watching sports and have some knowledge about certain things that needs to be done when an injury occurs to an athlete. In ten years, I would expect to see myself working as an athletic trainer at Penn State University. My result of the Kiersey Temperament Sorter does support my career goal because the result showed my personality type is that of an artisan. An artisan has natural ability to excel at jobs that require hands on operations such as an athletic trainer.

The mission statement is vital to the school and how the athletic/activity program is directed. The values, core beliefs, and the environment is encompassed within the mission statement and should be adhered to by the staff, students, and (hopefully) by the community. As Bebell, Stemler, & Stonnaband (2011) exclaim, “mission statements represent an important summation or distillation of an organization’s core goals represented by concise and simple statements that communicate broad theme”. The athletic director should be able to create an environment in which the students, staff, and community will comprehend and implement the mission statement. The mission statement should be the model for the students, staff, and community during the course
“Colleges and the NCAA generate more than $10.8 billion per year off of athletics” and yet, student athletes do not get paid at all for their hard work. They put in a great amount of time, effort, and work into being a student athlete. Being a college athlete is exceptionally laborious and can be both mentally and physically exhausting. There’s far more that goes into being a collegiate athlete than most individuals realize. Many people just see these athletes as the average student that in addition, gets to do what they love as an extracurricular.

Anyone who has watched, or has been to a sporting event, has seen the person who runs out and tends to the injured athlete on the field. That person is the team’s Athletic Trainer. While being strong and having skills are definitely needed to be a great sports player or succeed in keeping your body healthy and strong, it goes much deeper than that.

It is sometimes overwhelming to think that I will be entering the workforce in only a few short years. Yet, I do not feel that I will have a problem obtaining a job within the first six months of graduation. With the current economic situation, I believe that I have a very good possibility of obtaining a job. Currently, unemployment is low, there are a lot of jobs open, houses are affordable, and gas prices are fairly low. Taking these things into account, it would not be too difficult for me to move for a job, find somewhere to live and pay for the gas to get to and from work.
To enhance my experience I would like to work with veterans, adult homeless, and the mentally ill. My objective is to be admitted into the Master of Science degree program with an option in Rehabilitation Counseling, where I can grow and take on new challenges. Ultimately, I would like to assume further educational and gain work experience that would allow me to work more effectively with people with disabilities. Most importantly, I would like to work for an agency where I can build a career in counseling and possibly management. I am driven to be the best at what I do.

The Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model is a framework for reaching an optimal training, competition and recovery schedule for all aspects of human development.
