STEM Sisters is a club I joined this past school year that involves science, technology, engineering, and math for only girls. With this club I’ve been given several opportunities to view and learn by getting involved and becoming familiar with Science and health careers that will help me in the future. I have tried new activities that involve me applying science and math skills. Getting involved with Stem Sisters has had a significant impact on me by showing me different careers, team skills, and how my education is important. Stem Sisters involves exciting projects that show me about the different opportunities that I have in life. I was able to experience different activities with the medical and scientific career field with STEM throughout the year. Right now, ¼ of the STEM workforce is women. STEM models leadership by showing me that women can achieve all these great careers, not just men. Recently I attended a STEM Mentoring Café that taught me about a lot of the different jobs there is in this career field that has broughten my interest further. When you work together in different projects, you want to endeavor in all possibilities available. This summer I was able to go to UNM’s STEAM-H Career Extravaganza that connected with different careers and arts. I was able to work with students my age from different schools in projects that consist of health, science, and art that utilize STEM. This took place at the University of New Mexico campus. Communication skills are useful when you are working together, they are important now and will also be in the future. Working with others helps you work on your good team working
