Boy Scouts of America et al. v. Dale I chose to write about Boy Scouts of America and Monmouth Council, et al., Petitioners v. James Dale. James Dale, was the plaintiff in the case and the Boy Scouts of America and Monmouth Council were the defendants.
Growing up in a lower-middle class home, I have learned to be modest and frugal. I have also learned that nothing comes free and that everything must be earned through determination and hard work. So when I joined the Cub Scouts at age 7, I was determined to excel and achieve the highest rank in scouting, Eagle Scout. Since then, I have been intent on changing things for the better in everything I participated in. Ergo, having a lifetime goal to give back to the Earth, whether it be directly by studying chemistry to help the Earth or indirectly by donating some of my time and money back into the science field to help fund future developments of technology, seems best for the world.
Previous to High School, I volunteered in the mall at Cafe Barnabas where I started to gain working experience. I got a chance to work with customers and do a lot of hands on tasks. I had a very fun time and grew strong bonds with the people I worked
One of the places I frequently volunteer at is called ECHO Thrift. Here, I help sort through donations and keep the store clean. Every sale from ECHO Thrift helps fund their Empower program, which includes job coaching, financial counseling, workshops, and more. Additionally, donated clothes go to ECHO's Outreach Center for individuals or families in need. Whether it's helping teachers set up their classrooms for the new year or influencing community members, I am dedicated to making a positive impact on my community.
I usually try to volunteer at places where I feel I can have the most impact on people and people can have the most impact on me. Therefore, I decided the best place for me to volunteer was at the Boys and Girls Club, which enables me to interact with kids from different cultures, social backgrounds, and financial backgrounds. I get a chance to impart me into them and have them impart to me. As I volunteer at the Boys and Girls Club, my duty was to help the kids learn how to read and write, which I feel is the most important thing to have to assist you in learning. I also serve them lunch, help clean up, and plan events for the students to make their Boys and Girls Club experience memorable.
“Great futuRes start” is a phrase commonly referred to when you think of all the positive thing Boys and girls club have done for American throughout the US.I began attending Haven acres Boys and Girls Club for the past 6 years. The Boys and Girls club experience has been very beneficial and positive to my lifestyle, by teaching me proper human relationship skills communications skills, life and ethic skills. It has also helped me academically and also by develop leadership skills. The Club's programs have taught me many things. Some of the things the club has taught and allowed me to experience.
I am an active member in our community. I volunteer every month, at least once a month. One of the organizations that I volunteer at is Spoonful of Hope. This organization dedicated to feeding those who were, and still are feeling the effects of hurricane Sandy. They also give food to those who are hungry and in need of a decent meal in our community.
A place I volunteered at was The Salvation Army. The Salvation Army is a Christian church, as well as an international charitable organization. The Salvation Army's mission is to help get rid of poverty and to care for people who are struggling. What I did with the Salvation Army was Christmas Kettles, in which I would collect donations from people to help give back to our community. I do see benefits of doing community work.
All Christians and churches should completely sever their ties with the Boy Scouts of America (BSA), renowned evangelist Franklin Graham said after praising the Mormon church for its decision to pull out of two programs run by the organization. On May 11, the Mormon Church officially ended its participation with the Varsity and Venture programs, activities that are run by the BSA. The LDS church said it will launch its own program for boys 14 to 18 years of age who were previously under the two programs, but also said it will continue its participation in the Cub Scout and Boy Scout programs for boys aged eight to 13, Life Site News details. Earlier this year, BSA announced that it would start accepting transgender boys in the Cub and Boy Scouts
I plan on volunteering for many different organizations, that I am both currently working with, and plan to. For example, I participate in volunteer events for Special Olympic games, The Everett Theater, and St. Joseph’s Parish. By helping
Since joining the Boy Scouts of America, ultimately becoming an Eagle Scout at age twelve, I have upheld the oath, “On my honor I will do my best to do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law; to help other people at all times; to keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.” Looking back 40 years later, I realize that my decisions and endeavors have continued to follow the same promise to my God, my country, and myself. With a desire to keep myself mentally awake and morally straight, and with the support of my superiors at my office in the Charleston County Sheriff’s office, I submit this self-assessment in the hopes of taking the next step in my path towards the Center for Homeland Defense and Security
The most enriching activity I participated in during high school was my participation in the Boy Scouts of America. This program was enrichening to my life through the various characteristics developed and the miscellaneous skills taught throughout my involvement. One of the most important characteristic that was developed during my Boy Scout career was leadership. Boy Scouts helped develop this characteristic through its application during my Eagle Scout Project and the other leadership roles I maintained within the organization such as Senior Patrol Leader. Along with leadership, Boy Scouts of America has given me a guideline, such as the Scout Oath and Law, for qualities that one should possess in order to be the best they possibly can be.
Boy scouts of America is the largest youth service organization with over 4 million current members. ( BSA web) The Boy Scouts of America operate by teaching boys life skills, and working hand in hand with members of the community. The boy scouts have had a profound impact in my life and have shaped the man I am today. I am going to tell you about the Boy Scouts history, my experiences, and the effect they have had on my life.
In the first year, I was a part of a pioneering youth development team in Americorps NCCC Southwest Region. I worked with K-12 students in title one schools, Boys & Girls Clubs, Habitat for Humanity, local non-profit organizations, The Red Cross and The Salvation Army. I spent my second year working with underserved youth as a volunteer coordinator for Reading Partners in DC. I learned about the struggles that the students I worked with dealt with every day. I was also able to interact with parents and provide resources for education, housing, food, and nutrition.
In the year of 1910, the Boy Scouts of America were formulated under the direction of William D. Boyce. This particular organization for boys was favored by former presidents William Howard Taft and Theodore Roosevelt, as the organization was held to higher standards (“Founders”). Recently, there has been a controversy as to whether or not homosexual leaders should be allowed in Boy Scout troops across the United States. Many are indecisive in this situation, but my personal belief remains firm. The Boy Scouts of America should not allow homosexuals to enter the organization as leaders because of the possibility of sexual assault, families that want same-sex orientation for leaders and youth, and the organization’s foundation on God.
