The Seven Wonders of the Ancient World inspired awe and fascination during their time. There are seven wonders because back then,seven was a magical number. Many believe that these were built to honor someone or something. All were built B.C[or Before Christ.] One of the most famous wonders was the Statue of Zeus.
The Statue of Zeus is a very famous structure made by the architecture,Phdieas. The statue was nicknamed Altis. Those who came to watch the Olympics were able to see the Statue of Zeus. The Temples began in 470 B.C. and ended in 450 B.C. The statue,on the other hand began construction in 435 B.C. and ended in 422 B.C. The statue was dedicated to the king of the god’s, Zeus. In the god’s right hand,he held the figure of Nike,{So that’s why the companies name is Nike!) and in the god’s left hand,he held an eagle headed scepture(kings rod) The statue was made out of a wooden core,Zeus’s robe and ornaments out of gold and the god’s skin out of ivory. Mainly, it was in Olyimpia,Greece. Then,in 391, it was destroyed in the year 462. People who came to watch the Olympics admired this massive and beutiful structure. Obviously, it was made by the Greeks. But did you know that it was in the west coast of Greece? well,it kinda is. Now,if only there were some way to figure out how the Statue of Zeus was made.. Like I said in paragraph three,the Greeks were the one who made the Statue of Zeus. But to be more specific,(if you forgot) an architecture named Phideas was the man who created this statue.
