The University of Nebraska at Kearney study abroad program offers an exceedingly amount of incredible options of places to study while being a UNK student. While it is my goal to visit as many of these places in the world as possible before I die, it is no question why I chose the Czech Republic program first. First and foremost, my family heritage comes from the Czech Republic. My great aunt recently took a college ancestry class where she did extensive research on where my family emigrated from. It was found that my family came from the Czech Republic in the 19th century in search for some land and freedom which ultimately led them to Nebraska. It would be such an honor and privilege to be able to explore and understand the culture and customs from which my family derives from. Secondly, as an avid history lover, the thought of getting to experience Auschwitz camp first hand is so exciting! I was able to take a tour of the Holocaust museum in Washington D.C. and it was the most solemn and informative experience I’ve ever had. …show more content…

I am hoping to become an ESL elementary teacher and travel around the world. Most specifically, I would like to return to Zambia, Africa and teach children in villages who don’t have the opportunity to receive an education because of where they are located.
