I understand the course policies, and will attend the class every week. I swear to not plagiarize in any of the course essays or cheat in any of the exams. I will never disrespect the instructor or any of my classmates. Since this is a writing intensive course, the student’s requirement is to have good understanding of the English language and college level English writing.
There are two reasons I am taking this course and one of them is because it is a Junior elective course. Before I explain my second reason, I need to explain that I have taken an art class before at Los Angeles Valley Community College. The course consisted of art about the Greeks, Romans, and Egyptians. Even though I did pretty well in the course and got an A, it required a lot of memorization, which I consider myself poor at doing. I am not planning on becoming a Policemen or a Doctor but I do plan on becoming a computer engineer. Becoming an engineer requires you to be a critical thinker, and solving issues. Studying art can very well benefit me in my future career. In the video “Why look at art?” was a nice quick video and it answers the simple question. In this century life is moving so fast, and everyone’s head is looking downwards at their phone. People forget to just take a moment of their lives to stop and look around themselves. In the video “What is art for?” Alain de Botton’s explains what is art and how art influences us in our daily lives. It explains that art is everywhere we go and can influence our decisions and emotions. Art can be used as propaganda to influence us politically. Art can be a balance of our emotions and it can keep us from feeling less
