Stupid Steroids

("Drugs and Athletes.") Some people think that steroids are awful and should be banned, while others think they strengthen your body. When athletes take steroids, they are faced with a chance of health problems, and athletes could lose their position as a role model and it just makes the game unfair. If other athletes see other athletes take steroids then they will take them so it won’t be unfair. Because of this a scientist brought steroids to the U.S.A. to counter the Soviets. “Ziegler learned from his Russian counterparts that the Soviet weightlifting team's success was in part attributable to its use of performance-enhancing drugs” (Meyer) Steroids make you stronger so you can do physical things better than others. Performance-enhancing drugs are chemicals that can improve, or are widely believed to improve, a person’s strength, endurance, or recovery from vigorous exercise. ("Drugs and Athletes.")
