When it comes to types of music some will appeal to certain types of people, some won’t. For me music is always an art, something that people can connect to, and if enough time is put into practicing, can make art themselves. Metal is what this paper is going to be covering, the sub-genres, and which bands have mastered and become known for these sub-genres of metal. Metal came from the heavier side of rock and was put into its own genre due to the many people who were surrounding the type of music. I am also becoming a musician myself, I’ve been practicing guitar and drums for 2 years and know my ins and outs of guitars and guitarists alike.

Trivium is a great example of an experimental band, each album they make is always different, they either explore the other genres in metal or they go back to the roots of where they got their name, thrash metal. Looking at their albums they’ve produced, all of them have a familiar sound and feel, excluding Silence in the Snow, all of the albums have a familiar feel and sound everyone in their community loves or have liked since they’ve started listening to them. Me for example have been listening to them for over a year, and I’ve listened to all of their albums and have noticed the growth they’ve made since 1999, from raw screams and vocals, to the neoclassical masterpieces in their new album The Sin and the Sentence. On the technical deathcore side of things we have Rings of Saturn, these guys are the most well known for being the masters of the genre right next to The Browning. Most consider Rings of Saturn an aliencore or just straight up death metal band, but when you actually listen to their music, it is a completely different story. Looking at how they have to modify their music in production after recording it in the studio is fascinating, the way they have to mix and master their music in the studio is what some other bands are afraid to do, due to how the mixing can really affect the sound and quality of some of the
