Charley Patton was the scrawny child of sharecropper parents. In 1900, his family moved 100 miles north to the Delta and the Will Dockery Plantation. There Patton fell under the spell of guitarist Henry Sloan and would follow him to gigs. By 1910, he had become proficient as a performer and songwriter, having already composed "Down The Dirt Road Blues," a slow drag called "Banty Rooster Blues," and his theme song "Pony
Play Review In the dramatic play, Subterranean Homesick Blues Again by Dennis Reardon, he makes the setting clear that they were visiting a cavern. In the beginning of the story you can infer, almost immediately, that the characters do not get along so easily. As the characters go deeper into the caverns the constant arguing gets worse. Once they arrived to the third floor of the cavern, the tour guide tells the two couples visiting that they were at at home now.
This shows that people need to do the right thing no matter how hard it is so that events in real life do not get out of hand like they did in the play and like they did in the real Salem Witch
In the 10 minute play Subterranean Homesick blues again written by Dennis Reardon writes about a group of people who go on a journey in a cave, but this cave journey is not an ordinary journey in the caverns. This cave takes tourist to a world under our own. Throughout the play reardon reveals Greek mythology as the tourist are taken through the cave, and also Reardon gives a glimpse of how Greeks used to live. Subterranean Homesick Blues Again the playwright offered a very interesting change of events that gave a perplexed feeling to me.
The story is written in a way that makes you believe the main character is alive and free, but in reality you are reading the last wishes of a dead man. The ending definitely caught me by surprise due to author’s efforts in playing with the main character’s point of view. I think the author also performed well with descriptive words as I could paint the scenes in my head like the, “...whirled on with a velocity of advance and gyration which made him giddy and sick” and “...the abrasion of one of his hands on the gravel...” (Bierce 604). The use of this imagery also helped the author convey the illusion of fantasy and
Slowly making their way to the couples unavoidable and unwelcoming “New Home”. The play does an outstanding job of incorporating Greek mythology. The introduction of the River Styx and the three headed Hellhound Cerberus send chills down the readers spine. The writer does an amazing job of describing the different levels as well as turning the tour guide sinister as the group gets closer to Hell.
Before reading this musical, I did not have good idea of what it was about. I thought it was a comedy in some ways, but I did not except it to be so dramatic. This musical touches on subjects that are very fragile. I did not expect the son to be a ghost, and to have died when he was younger, and he is a ghost in the musical. With the musical being so emotional, there is a lot of adult content.
I also understood how terrifying it must have been for the people living in Salem at the time. If the girls weren’t fond of you, they’d accuse you of the worst sin imaginable, worshiping the devil of course. This made me think critically of how I would have acted if I was living in Salem during this dark time. It also forces the viewer to analyze how they perceive the people around them. I felt as if the accused citizens had little to no chance due to the fact that they would choose the young girls’ word for it over theirs.
The play “ Subterranean Homesick Blues Again” by Dennis R. is a ten minute play written back in May 25th, 1983. The short play was written about a young tour guide that decides to mess with two bickering married couples ( Naomi ,Sherman ,Mick And Kathy , that came in to visit a famous cavern that the tour guide was touring them through ,but then it seems the tour took a couple turns when they were in the caverns. The play was written with a purpose of humor with a twist of darkness of a double date gone wrong for the readers to enjoy the unpredictable events occurring in this ten minute short play. The play “ Subterranean Homesick Blues Again” was a well written structured play with many details that drove the play into a humorous play.
Then in the movie they got to a place that looks like a sewer or the poorer part of town. There is a family who are very poor, barely enough to eat. Then the spirit takes him to the grave. In the play the part about the poor family doesn’t happen in the play. The either made up that part or completely skipped
It shows whoever reads it why lying is a sin. A society or puritans, focused on perfection of religion, is shocked by an occurrence of witches. Witches are the Devil’s evildoers, and should be persecuted at once. Abigal, the drama queen of the play, attempts to kill the wife of the man she loves with witchcraft. They are found, but whenever Abigal and the others attending are being accused, they lie, blaming others of being witches.
It reveals how people commit cruel acts out of selfish intentions. In this situation, the girls claim to “come to Heaven’s side” by pointing fingers at others for witchcraft, although they were only doing so to get themselves out of their own trouble. These acts of cruelty reflect upon the evil motives of the perpetrators that become more common after it is done once, as seen through the continuous trials and suspicions, which acts as one of the most major conflicts in the play. Without these cruel accusations, there would be neither plot nor ending. With this same situation, it can be concluded that accusations become more frequent during an interval of time when there are more people accusing.
Many emotions were shown as the naked, vulnerable women were huddled together completely exposed. Suspense happened because the women had no idea what to expect. They just were in shock of what was happening to them. Throughout this scene suspense occurred because the audience had no clue if the women were going to be saved or if they were going to be killed. Action occurred when Goeth was in the basement with Helen because he seemed to like her.
The theme is this scene is supernatural. This theme is important in the play because without the witches there would be no story. The audiences will be uncomfortable and quite scared of her because witches can kill people. They would be immersed into the play because of the
The play had a realistic representation of women who were accused of being witches. In that day those accused of being such were sentenced to death, evidently the fear was real and it led to horrible
