1552 Words7 Pages

Shreveport Opera is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, and their mission is “to produce professional opera and musical productions of the highest artistic quality and to provide educational programming and outreach to children, youth and adults in the Ark-La-Tex region” . From their mission, we can easily understand that they are providing their services to all ages and encourage them to participate into the opera. This is their 67th season, and to a local nonprofit performing arts organization, this is definitely a huge achievement for serving the community over six decades. They also have a great financial budget, according to their recent Form 990, from the fiscal year started at July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014, their total revenue is $839,931, and their expenses are $766,894, which made them earn some profit and is around $73,037; also their total assets at the end of the fiscal year is $645,706 . It is not hard to figure out that Shreveport Opera is very self-sustainable and successfully meeting the community’s needs. Following, I will analyze both the strengths and weaknesses of Shreveport Opera and offer some of my recommendations in order to run the organization even better in the next 2 or 3 years.
