Do you think your activities online are being monitored. Well some schools are starting to monitor all of their student’s online activities, even the things they do away from school. In “At Some Schools, ‘Big Brother’ is Watching”, by Kelly Wallace, it talks about some schools monitoring systems for their all of their students online activities and posts. Kelly Wallace thinks that students have a right to privacy, but when their life is in danger, the school has a right to step in. I agree with Kelly, in that if someone sees that a student is talking about suicide, they can tell somebody, and the school should be able to investigate.
Wallace writes about a situations where a twelve year-old Florida girl ended her life because of repeated cyberbullying. Specific messages sent to the girls are described in the essay as well. Next, Wallace goes on to explain that the school was unaware of the cyberbullying situation off campus, but on campus the school had separated the girl and the students bullying her and had placed them in different classrooms. The purpose of the story of the little girl was to show that monitoring students’ activity on social media can be helpful; maybe if the school knew about the problem the outcome may have been different. The article “At some schools, ‘Big Brother’ is watching” by Kelly Wallace is about school having the right to look at students’s social media. Kelly Wallace says interviewed many people and they said it helped them save lives and keep everyone safe. The author supports the idea of the school having rights to look at the social media. In my opinion Kelly Wallace is correct about schools having the rights to look at the student’s social media because it can prevent cyberbullying and it could stop students to post inappropriate stuff on social media.

She was threatened with words such as “if you haven’t killed yourself yet, would you please just die,” and she had searched on the internet “how many Advil do you need to take to die.” It is at times like this that the government should monitor the conversation on social media or even personal account. The conventional wisdom of cyberbullying is that society sees it as a kid trying to cause problems or trying to run away from their problems. That people being cyberbullied are “asking for it” but in reality these kids that do anything to deserve that. cyber bullying is just a great cause of suicide people don't see it but it is one cause.
