Cultural Appropriation is a huge issue that isn't seen as a bad thing in today's society, but should be looked at more closely to stop the reinforcement of negative stereotypes.

The authors are credible because Brian D. Behnken got his Phd at UC Davis and studied Mexican American History, Chicano studies as well as Race and Comparative Race Relations. Gregory D. Smithers also went to school at UC Davis and is devoted to narrating the past in ways that connect with issues of social justice, racism and gender equality.
This source is helpful because it would give me more information on the many ways mexicans have been stereotyped and portrayed in the media. The authors also wrote of other cultures and their portrayal in the media which helps me compare and contrast the cultural appropriation among mexicans and other cultures to see if this is a huge problem among every …show more content…

Television And the American Family. Hillsdale, NJ: L. Erlbaum Associates, 1990. This book is about how families are portrayed in television and how television impacts family and family members. This book connects to my essential question because it brings up topics of the impact of media in family life. Although my topic does not focus on family, you mainly watch television with family and depending on what they watch it influences the people around them.
Jennings Bryant is a distinguished professor at the University of Alabama. This is a credible source because he’s done a lot of research on this topic and written many books on it.
This source is helpful because it shows how t.v can cause people to change and act a lot more violently after watching certain programs. I intend to use this source to show how television can shape and essentially “brainwash people”.
