40–43. The Engaging Classroom,
As one who strongly believes in the importance of espousing a comprehensive approach to student development, I was drawn to LFHS because of the district's commitment to supporting the holistic well-being of every learner. In speaking with staff, parents, community members and students, the focus on social, emotional, and academic growth is overwhelmingly a key priority. Having attended high-performing schools, I know the pressures and stressors that sometimes coincide with academic success. With a focus on the holistic needs of each student, I look forward to supporting academic excellence while also
A sitting based approach is more likely to be effective then asking an individual to take responsibility for their own health because a setting based approach allows for Joint achievement between the action areas for example if the local pool owner of Arnhem supported the “healthy heart is a better start program” by reducing prices for students of Shepherdson college, students to be able to access this facility at a cheaper price and therefore strengthening community action and enabling potential prevention of cardio vascular disease. Although there is a possibly of some students not partaking in this sitting based approach to health, the program involves many effective health promotion strategies which gives the students all the resources and support they desire. Sitting based approaches encourage the involvement of everyone this is evident in the “healthy heart is s better start program” as there is a combined school total of scores and if they reach their set goal, rewards are received such as activities and day
“In a study done by Sagness and Salzman, the majority of the teachers reported they used a greater variety of learning activities and students participating more actively in learning when class time was extended”.(Johnson ) The increase in different learning activities help break up the longer class times; thus keeping the student's attention. But if teachers do not address the need to change instruction, extended time in class will not benefit students if improving the quality of that time is
The engagement of hands on learning was also very beneficial during the time at the Head Start program. The students were eager to help with classroom responsibilities and excited to be involved actively during circle time. The same types of engaging the students in social learning was experienced at Hance Elementary, with more focus on independence. In addition, the students were students were very much engages when provided several activities when academic lessons were being taught. For example, the class did not just read a story, they completed worksheet activities, whiteboard diagram retells, acting out and bulletin board activities to enforce and develop different style comprehension
The textbook suggests planning activities or lessons that allow students to display their skills and interests. (Salend, 2016, pg check page ) Teachers should use praise when students demonstrate their knowledge or use good behavior strategies, this allows students to feel valued. Teachers can also teach students stress management techniques. I think this is extremely important because there are many times as a student where I felt overwhelmed with classwork and preparing to apply for colleges.
I have always been a hardworking student, tried my hardest in each of my classes, and worked to be the best student that I can. However, some days it's harder to be a good student than others. Whether I'm especially tired in a certain class or I'm exhausted in general from my day, reminding myself that I only have 55 minutes per class helps me make it through, and persevere as much as I can. Having an hour and forty minutes worth of class time would make it a lot harder for me to concentrate. I can focus a lot if it
I would arrange my class time to allow
I learned throughout the course of this class that there are many components to maintaining a state of well being and that health and wellness aren’t the same thing. I came to understand better the multiple categories of wellness that compose the broad subject in general. We also discussed the various attributes of physical wellness that range from the strength of the heart to the flexibility of our joints. There was a great deal of information that came from this class that will be beneficial to have in the future as it gives multiple tips to keeping oneself in a state of homeostasis. Nutrition and stress management are also huge factors within the balance of things as well.
Enhanced Classroom Engagement Assessment (ECEA) Objective Formative assessment plays a crucial role in supporting effective teaching and learning by providing timely feedback, promoting active engagement, and guiding instructional decision-making. It empowers educators to meet the diverse needs of their students and create a supportive learning environment where all learners can thrive. The objective of the Enhanced Classroom Engagement Assessment (ECEA) is to evaluate and improve teacher practices and student engagement at Sunnydale School. This formative assessment method aims to foster a more interactive and student-centered learning environment while aligning with brain-based research on adolescent learners.
What also worked for me was having an interactive and good standing with Mr.Hall because he tried his best to integrate me into the class. Which was very helpful because it kept me busy, attentive and also not just sitting
Sometimes the struggle and hardship of reaching for goals can eventually improve quality of life. For example, if an individual studied extremely hard and endured long, restless nights to secure entry into a medical program, the very act of struggling and stressing could make this student stronger. After being under constant stress the student could learn how to cope with stress which could help them greatly in the future when they are posed with daunting tasks. The student could learn the value of a hard-earned position at a hospital which could result in greater
it is better to ask for help then let stress affect me and my performance in classes. and counseling does really help because I was talking to someone new and they do not know anything about me and talking to a stranger did help me figure out what was wrong with me because I have to tell everything from the beginning and with new different opinion I was able to get over my stress. The eighth thing I learned is to always keep with me a small calendar to write everything down for example, and appointment, test date, assignment due date, etc. That way I would be more organized and get everything down by it due date.
As I am currently teaching an after school tutorial lessons in my previous school so I have more chance to hang with some of the senior students that is facing the public exam. During the teaching I found that many psychological strategies would possibly be applied to our daily life. I was a secondary school student just a few years ago too. I can understand that assignments and tests thought may seem good to student which urge them to study,it would somehow disturb a student 's study plan and cause a huge stress when those things start to stack. So in the first few lessons, I tried to create a more relaxing atmosphere and pressure-free environment for them.
By adopting these several motivational strategies in the classroom will affect the enthusiasm of the students in a positive way, thus promoting and sustaining
