When the Underground Railroad was operational there was an important conductor who was also very well known: her name was, Harriet Tubman. She would proceed each mission with an extreme level of caution every time, making sure no one was caught. Which allowed her to be very successful in these missions. Her cautiousness was shown within the story “Harriet Tubman: Conductor on the Underground Railroad” which was written by Ann Petry. This describes how the author was able to pick up on the fact that Tubman was not working alone on this trip since she had several points in different places where she and the fugitives could rest. So this shows that Tubman was very organized. She was able to have her multiple friends help her take care of the fugitives so they wouldn’t go starving and without sleep. Along with how she had it designated for certain points in time, she had a plan and she stuck with it. Readers can infer how Tubman had multiple characteristics that were shown within this book about her journey to help escort eleven fugitives to freedom. Predominantly, the author was able to utilize many different writing techniques to produce multiple characteristics to describe Tubman.
