This book is a true story about three zoo elephants and their rescue from captivity. This book could be read independently by a third grader. This book could be implemented in 1st and so on. This book discusses why Elephants shouldn’t be kept in captivity. Elephants can walk up to 50 miles a day and when kept in captivity they don't have that opportunity. Climate is very important to elephants they are used to dry and warm weather. When kept in enclosed spaces elephants become weak, out of shape and ill. The book talks about how these three elephants were rescued and transported into better living conditions. I like that in the back of the book it gives a bunch of different facts about elephants. We need to teach them why they live in the wild and what it does for our planet and what happens when we remove them from it. I would incorporate this into my third grade classroom by assigning each student an animal that lives in a zoo. Then I would have them make a chart about why it's good from them to be in zoo versus why it is
