The book, The Next America by Paul Taylor, was a very interesting and well written book. The book focused on how America has changed over the years throughout the different generations. The book seems to focus on mainly two of the generations, the Baby Boomers and the Millennials. Taylor seems to use the Baby Boomers and the Millennials because the Baby Boomers are growing older and aren’t a fan of change and the Millennials are growing up and are apart of the change. He used a lot of statistics and numbers in the book to compare and contrast the different generations throughout the years.
During the WWII, post WWII, and Cold War era throughout the 20th century, the United States of America was faced with many domestic and foreign conflicts. It was a time of change, action, and movements. Amidst the conflicts, the US was forced to make very controversial decisions. Through its government, the United States acted on these many problems and affected the quality of life of the people. Unfortunately, with these decisions made, the US failed to promote the liberty, equality, and justice for its citizens and the people of the world.

The twentieth century was a major turning point for the United States of America. Americans realized that they needed to play an important role in the world, yet they did not know what kind of role. “Whether to be an example worthy of emulation or an activist shaping the world; whether or not to be imperialist; whether to define U.S. interests in a far-sighted or narrow way and whether to act alone or with others,” (192). There has not been a clear, concise answer to all those questions. However, it is seen that the U.S. policy was not only focused on advancing its own interest but to transform the world.

To conclude, the book shows us how Carr was convinced the realities of Global Power and not Utopians normative morality would shape a new international order. Carr’s work can be understood as a critique of Liberalism internationalism or what he referred to as
While being the UN’s top contributor, the country has also done multiple military interventions. However, Trump’s “American first” philosophy declares America will step down from its role as the global leader and focus on domestic affairs, as demanded by a significant portion of the voting population in America. Fragmentation of coordinated global action, which had just been made possible due to globalization and the proliferation of the Internet, is inevitable. The election of 2016, which decided American policy shall be governed by Trump’s philosophy, is a turning point in world history, signifying the end of “Pax Americana” and the rise of an era with a new global leader (or none).
FEMINIST THEORY INTRODUCTION When researching on feminist theory, I examined a number of important and central issues which should be considered, including: • What is “theory”? What does it mean to theorize? • What is specifically feminist about feminist theory? • Are there specific methods for feminist theorizing?
