Torture is the action or practice of inflicting severe pain on someone as a punishment, to force them to do or say something, or for the pleasure of the person inflicting the pain.
It has been here for a very long time. The origins of torture date back to 530AD, when the great Roman jurists believed and thought of torture as ‘the highest form of truth. Greek legal orator, Demosthenes believed that no statements made as a result of torture have ever been proved untrue. In the 12th Century, Roman Law was revived by officials in Italy and France, to become a source of authority in civil law systems. It is the system we live in. Capitalism is generally characterized by competition between producers. Without capitalism there would be no class division, profit motive, or free market. We wouldn’t be able to progress as human beings. The progression in technology is the result of capitalism. We have the choice to choose from an Apple device or any other Windows product. Times have changed. New rules should be addressed. Why is the police dressed like that? They are being armed with military grade weapons as if what they had on before wasn’t already intimidating. We still live in a world full of drug dealers, killers, and robber. That is still no excuse for what they are now using. They don’t need that for a bunch of civilians. A gun and a taser is all they really need. They are still going against regular civilians. They are dressed as if they are about to go to war. If they want to be weaponised as if they were in the military, than they should join the military. Right now in Ferguson, the police are armed with 5.56 millimeter rifles based on the the military’s M4. They also own a small tank called a, “BearCat”. I am sure the people of Ferguson are all frightened. I also believe this brings in plenty of unnecessary expenses. The Maricopa County Sheriff's office alone 120 assault rifles, five armoured vehicles, and 10 helicopters, according to the ACLU report. In Gwinett County, Georgia, the SWAT team received nearly 60 military-grade semiautomatic weapons through the 1033 program between July 10, 2010 and Oct. 6, 2013.
