4.4.4 Human Resources

With the presence of new energy challenges, it is important for Total to innovate and adapt. In order to meet these challenges, Total is investing in what it considers to be its most valuable resource, that is to say, its employees. The objective will be to provide employees with the best working conditions and possible life.

One of the causes of Total will be to collaborate with the company.
Total has successfully engaged in improving access to the workplace. This is notably by adhering to the equal opportunities charters and the implementation of partnerships with the public sector and non-profit associations that Total knew how to achieve its objective.

With its presence in many countries around the world, and a concentrated presence in Europe, Total perpetually seeks to improve the working conditions of its employees. Total is interested and thus, invest in particular within its corporate social responsibility and supports themes such as health and sustainable development.

For the past 12 years, Total has succeeded in implementing within its business what is called the Total survey. Every two years, employees are invited to participate in a survey to assess their satisfaction, trends and determine areas for improvement.

This survey concerns the following subject: leadership, shared values, objectives and the annual assessment interview, working conditions, safety, etc.

Founded in 2006, the Total Women’s Initiative for Communication and Exchange (TWICE) is looking for to facilitate the development of women 's careers. Also, this initiative seeks to raise awareness and provide a corporate culture where gender equality for men and women is a force. Finally, it seeks to create working groups to hear the voices of women in business issues.

In 2003, the proportion of women was 26% of the workforce while that of managers was 17%. Finally, only 4% of senior managers were women. Through its gender equality objectives, Total has given a greater share of women in the company. In 2014, 31.1% of the total workforce of Total are women, an increase of 5.1 points in 11 years. Regarding managers, a strong increase of 7.5 point is found. In 2014, the percentage of female managers is 24.5%. Finally, with only 4% of women in senior management in 2003, Total is proud to announce that in 2014, that number rose to 17.6%. This is not less than 13.6% in 11
