Schizophrenia is a long-term mental disorder of a type involving a breakdown in the relation between thought, emotion, and behavior. This leads to faulty perception, inappropriate actions and feelings, withdrawal from reality and personal relationships into fantasy and delusion, and a sense of mental fragmentation. People with the negative symptoms may be unable to start or follow through with activities, show little interest in life, or sustain relationships. Negative symptoms are sometimes confused with clinical depression.It can also cause a lack of concentration, making it very difficult for one to focus. Paranoia and a lack of motivation can greatly affect victims of schizophrenia. All these symptoms can lead to someone acting crazy or seeming “psychotic”. In a brain with schizophrenia, far more neurotransmitters are released between neurons than are in a normal brain. Neurotransmitters are what gives communications from the brain throughout the body. The brain uses neurotransmitters to tell your heart to beat, your lungs to breathe, and your stomach to digest. People with schizophrenia are more than likely not very active. They lose sleep and can become very unhealthy. There is no known cure for schizophrenia, but it can be treated and managed in several ways.
