Increasing temperatures, increasing sea levels, melting glaciers, and extreme weather events like storms, droughts, and floods are all direct results of global warming. Experts foresee severe effects for the planet's future, including severe food shortages, climate refugees, and the extinction of numerous species, if global warming continues at its current rate. “This warming trend is alarming. Our warming climate is already making a mark: Forest fires are intensifying; hurricanes are getting stronger; droughts are wreaking havoc and sea levels are rising. NASA is deepening our commitment to do our part in addressing climate change.
Has anyone ever called you an animal? Have you been compared to a sloth because you were lazy, or a mouse because you were quiet? In my Language Arts class, we read the book “Touching Spirit Bear” by Ben Mikaelsen. In this novel, a troubled teenage boy named Cole is banished to an island to find and heal his soul after he severely beats a kid. During his stay on the island, Cole realizes that he is similar to several different animals.
Imagine if all of Florida disappeared under the water. Millions of people would need to migrate up to other states, likely causing population issues in some places, and the culprit of the disappearance: Humans. More specifically, climate change caused by humans. Climate change is caused by greenhouse gas emissions, and that makes the atmosphere trap heat from the sun in our atmosphere. This causes the global temperature to slowly increase.
People may know about climate change and the drastic changes it is having on the environment, but what they may not be aware of is that another degree increase in the world’s average temperature will cause even bigger problems for people all over. Climate change is long term shifts in temperature and patterns in the weather. Greenhouse gasses, gasses that trap heat in the atmosphere causing it to warm up are at an all-time high due to humans and the amount of fossil fuels we use. The most crucial result of climate change is global health, but animal endangerment and the rise in sea levels are also very important effects.
I chose to read “The Midnight Twins” by Jaquelyn Mitchard. “The Midnight Twins” is fiction book, it was a mysterious and suspenseful story that introduces and shows examples of telepathy. In this book, twins Meredith and Mallory Brynn were very unlucky. They faced many unfortunate events and the events introduced their strengths. “The Midnight Twins” was easy to understand and was a great read.
In another article written by Amanda Macmillan summarizes the effects global warming has on nature due to the cause of overload of carbon dioxide and forest deforestation. First, the text states earth’s rising “temperatures are fueling longer and hotter heat waves, more frequent droughts, heavier rainfall, and more powerful hurricanes”, which is not good news for us living here on planet earth. And it doesn’t stop there-there are also the effects of global warming creating even more “intense allergy seasons”, and the frequent sea level rise happening around the world.obviously these problems are not convenient for us we shouldn’t ignore this any more change must come. Other major examples found on a website called livescience.com it states “heavier flooding and precipitation” will come in result of global warming, and over the last 100 years the global temp has gone up .4 degrees celsius. These stats might not seem like a lot but they are having drastic effects on our
As mentioned before, one of the more frightening effects of climate change is global warming, caused by the greenhouse effect.
Climate change is an irreversible consequence of the damage we do to our Earth. If we do not change our ways, the global temperature will swell, causing an unchangeable series of events, consecrating detriments onto all the existence upon Earth. In only about 140 years, the average global temperature has increased 0.8 degrees celsius, and the ramification is the irreparable destruction of the place where we and millions of other species live. The most important consequence of climate change is the global increase in temperature and how that is affecting various animal species all over the Earth, the health of humans, and the rapid rise of sea level.
Climate change is believed to be the biggest issue facing the Earth. It is a long-term change in the Earth’s temperatures and climate (“Climate Change”, Dictionary.com). Our atmosphere is part of the reason why we can live on Earth with reasonable temperatures. Humans have been emitting unnatural greenhouse gases, like coal, oil, and gas. This is changing the natural systems that take place in our atmosphere.
Throughout history Earth`s climate has changed a lot, and there is a lot of evidence that shows how humans have contributed to this changed and effected the Earth. Just in the last 650,000 years there have been seven cycles of glacial advances, the increase in the thickness and area of a glacier. As well as glacial retreats, a condition occurring when backward melting at the front of a glacier takes place at a rate exceeding forward motion. Most climate changes are attributed to very small variations in the earth`s orbit, that change the amount of solar energy our planet receives. The 21st century has seen the most temperature records broken in recorded history.
Polar ice caps are melting, sea level is rising, wet places are drying, cold places are warmer, all of these things are caused by Global Warming. What is Global Warming? you might ask. Well Global Warming is a slow rising of the earth’s overall temperature. This means that it isn’t a drastic change and the world’s climate is getting heated up in a week.
Ian Hall ENGL 150, 10 am January 29, 2018 Informative Essay Global Warming Informative Essay So what exactly is global warming?
Perhaps less obvious but no less ominous a threat to the environment are the general increase in temperatures worldwide and the resulting climate changes. This phenomenon, known as global warming, could have serious negative effects on humans and all other living things on Earth. Global warming is a complex problem, and governments have had great difficulty deciding how to address it. Some people think that it is the work of the world where nothing we do can ether change it or anything we do will prevent it. While others say that the
Global warming is an issue that is not new to us. It has already warmed by 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit since 1900s ("Global Warming Is Happening Now"). Ecosystems are feeling the heat and are struggling to maintain their lives. It is easy to observe that the effect of global climate change on the Earth.
Climate change is an issue that is relevant in today 's world. There is a vast amount of evidence suggesting that climate change is real, and could potentially have a drastic impact on our planet if the necessary measures aren’t taken to stop and reverse its effects. Human decisions have led to global warming, and those choices are what will potentially harm not only us, but also our planet. One evidence for global warming can be seen in the significant change in the record of high and low temperatures on this planet “The number of record high temperatures have been increasing and the record of low temperatures have been decreasing since the 1950”(NASA). Regions that are already vulnerable to extreme temperatures can be further affected by a downward
