Taking A Closer Look At My Theory Of Writing

Whether one may realize this or not, we all have our own writing theory. The writing theory is simply our idea of what writing is. Our writing theory forms our expectations and practices as writers. In this paper I will be discussing my writing Theory. I understand writing to be a tool that is used to successfully communicate ideas and information to others. To fully understand this theory, we must first look up the definition of a tool. “A tool is an item or implement use for a particular purpose. It can be a physical object such as mechanical tools like saws and hammers or a technical object such as Web-authoring or a software program. One of the things I was able to do in this course was understand and use a variety of technologies to address my audience. In all of my writing projects and even some writing journals I made sure to use at least one or two multi-modal elements such as photographs on hyperlinks. In Writing Project #2, my ethnography, I used a photograph of a face painted with Haitian colors. The picture was used because I was speaking about the Haitian community, the face represented the fact that the community itself was the people, without the people there would be no community. So from the first glance of the project one would automatically know that what I'll be speaking about have something to do with the Haitians. Throughout the project there were also several hyperlinks. One of the hyperlinks was the definition of the word domestic violence, the other hyperlink was tips on how to prevent domestic violence in the Haitian community. This process is where one can actually check to make sure that their work is cited and add the multi-modal elements in their paper. My first draft is usually me brainstorming and I would just have the basics down. Here is a look at my first draft for Writing Project #1. It is during my second draft that I add on the work cited and multi-modal elements. I usually turn that in as the “first draft”. And my final draft I read to make sure that I understand what I'm saying and to make sure that the message I want to give is there. This is also where I fix grammatical errors. I actually knew about drafting before taking this course because I had always done drafting in since high school. The only thing I learned was how it helps when one uses writing as a
