GoPro Company Scan GoPro is a relatively large company which went public on June 26, 2014 (fiegerman, 2015) it is now a worldwide brand with many loyal followers. Be a Hero, which is GoPro’s slogan, serves as an intelligent use of advertising on two levels, one being towards the consumer, and the other directly referring to their “Hero” line of cameras. GoPro is thought to currently hold the top spot in the competition for wearable cameras, they are known to provide an extremely high quality, durable product. They charge quite high prices, sometimes reaching up to eight-hundred Canadian dollars, but to the athletes, outdoors people, and families dedicated to sharing their most magical moments with others, it’s well worth the price.

They have a massive amount of brand recondition, and extremely loyal customers. Their cult following allows them to spend very little on marketing, and allows them to charge an extremely high amount for their products. In addition to their position in the market and in the eyes of their customers, the combination of products and services offered by GoPro, ranging from apps to camera cases, a customer who comes to order a single camera may instead realize they require a lot more, and end up spending hundreds of dollars more than they anticipated earlier on accessories for their main purchase.
GoPro’s demographic is currently evolving towards more a larger market. Their demographic used to be either athletes, very active people, or very outdoorsy people, but this is changing quickly to a more vacation, or family oriented group of people. The camera is to be used by a person to record and share experiences, not by a corporation (GoPro, 2015).The types of people however, vary slightly. GoPro appeals to a large variety of active consumers, including thrill seekers, athletes, parkourists, video makers and boarders. The average GoPro user are young men with talents that they are proud of, and want to show to their friends and families through the power of a wearable camera. These young men, after recording their rather impressive feats, upload them to social media as they are quit computer savvy, where the video is then shared with the people of their choosing. This market shares for the purpose of showing people their talents, and possibly to compete against others in their desired sport or possibly to obtain a sponsorship. GoPro also allow for some very cool shots to be obtained by film makers, which would be impossible for some other cameras.
