I believe the cyber-attack on Target was handled with a great respect to their customers. It was said that the attack was a sophisticated attack, and that no retailer would have suspected anything like what happened to happen (Kinicki & Williams, 2016). The CEO Greg Steinhafel was faced with some very hard decisions to make after the cyber-attack happened. He released a statement that told the actual number of customers that were affected by the attack. Mr. Steinhafel had some push back from his executive team advising him not to tell how many people were affected, but he went ahead and released the statement anyway. I believe he made the right decision to release the statement. Mr. Steinhafel then started making plans to help protect the customers of target. These plans included installing new chip technology card readers, offering protection plans for customers that used their cards at target, and offering fraud protection to customers. These plans were going to cost Target money in the end, but showed the customers of target that the company was working to make things safer for them to shop at the stores. I think the management of target was caught off guard by the cyber-attack, but took quick action to protect the people involved.
