Stacy, giving customers the ability to interact with a business through multiple channels increases the firm’s ability to supply customers with what they need. It is critical that the different channels provide the same experience to the customer. For example, it will not benefit a company if the customer’s experience online is great and their experience in the store was horrible. Retail stores that have multichannel capability allow customers to purchase items online with the choices of picking up the product at their nearest store or having it shipped to their home (Brown, DeHayes, Hoffer, Martin & Perkins, 2012).
