This school's principal, Ps. 192 provides every classroom with materials the teachers need for their students (Teacher interview, April 11, 2018). Ms. Cunning is provided with construction paper, easel pads, paper, textbooks, manipulatives and etc. Ms. Cunning stated “I tell the principal what I need and in the next three days is here” (Teacher Interview, April 11, 2018). Ms. Cunning’s classroom has an abundance of resources and materials of a variety of colors (Observation, April 18, 2018). This gives the classroom a colorful feel of positive energy. A teacher that provides students with a well-organized and structured classroom are known to boost students to become better learners and motivators (Schiefele, 2017). Cunning’s classroom has everything the kids would ever need to learn and explore my experience. The classroom is filled with so many manipulatives and materials which the students are free to use when needed (Observation, March 8, 2018). The classroom materials are used during math and literacy. During math and literacy students are able to use material that is provided for them on their desk baskets or on the back of the room where the manipulatives are located. This gives intrinsic and extrinsic learners the opportunity to learn, explore and manipulate objects to stimulate their knowledge (Lee, McInerney, Liem, & Ortiga, 2010). Ms. Cunning’s students are so comfortable in her classroom that the students stand up from their seats and look for whatever they need. The students’ names are each placed on their desk and each set of grouped tables has a basket on it with their table numbers and materials that would be needed at all times. The baskets are provided with rulers, scissors, pencils, highlighter, rules for writing, multiplication tables and math/literacy resources (Observation, April 18, 2018). At the front left side of the room, you would see a library. The library has books from levels A-W; students are able to pick books that are on their level of reading. However, if the kids want books that are not in her library Ms. Cunning gives them the opportunity to go to the school’s library.
