Teachers represent both their content areas as well as their schools. How teachers present themselves makes an impression on administrators, colleagues, parents, and also students. A teacher who excludes enthusiasm and competence for a content area may rub off those feelings to the students. The teacher has an impact on the student’s experience in the class. Teachers are not an employee but a friend and a mentor and a guide for the students that they interact with on a daily basis. Teaching is hard work and some teachers never produce anything better than mediocre. They do the minimum and very little more. In a great teacher's classroom, the teacher respects the students.
