For the three and a half years I’ve been in high school, I have heard many opinions about teacher. Some being suggestions to a underclassman, review of the teacher, and some being very detail rants about a teacher. After hearing about those teacher, I wonder if a student should be allowed to give a grade to a teacher. I think that students giving rating or grades to a teacher is a good thing for many reasons. One of these things include, helping parents with young kids find schools with good teachers. Students giving teacher grades is a very good idea and should be a mandatory grading system for all schools. To begin, students giving teachers ratings will help principle get a better of idea of who they hired, and if they are doing their job. Some students will come out a class very confused either because a certain teacher didn’t go over a topic well enough, or the teacher decided they didn’t need to go over it. So if there was a grade for teachers, a principal can use it to get a idea that that teacher isn’t doing their job correctly and start a investigation of teacher. This could lead to that particular teacher being asked to leave at the end of the term. This is also very good for teachers who are on the side of slacking. King Edward Medical University, conducted a study that asked a class of students, which consisted of 310 students, to rate 5 different teachers o a 5-point Likert scale. The results of the study showed that the first teacher had a 85% rating. The other teachers rated had an average of 66%. Also during their study they asked the students, what the strengths and weakness of the teachers.
