Pros And Cons Of The LCPS Grading System

I think that giving grades is a good way to look at how well a child is doing as an overall in that class. But I also think that grades don’t always give you enough reasoning as to why you got that grade. If a teacher would write a paragraph explaining how we were doing in each subject it would allow students to see what they need to fix without getting a letter that decides whether the kid is doing good or bad in that class. I think if teachers were to use both of these techniques and combine them together it would allow students to succeed more in their classes. The students would be able to see how they are doing in the class with a letter grade but also how they can improve this grade with a paragraph explaining how they are doing.

I think some pros for some kids would be not getting yelled at by your parents. I think another pro would be that kids wouldn’t be able to compare themselves to others on how they are doing in a certain class. That would be a pro because students wouldn’t feel superior over …show more content…

I feel like it is a good amount of difficulty in order to receive the grades that you would want in that class. One thing I think the LCPS grading system could fix is how the weight of certain grades can affect your grade a lot more than other grades. You could have an A in the class and suddenly you do really bad on one test and then your grade goes down a lot. After something like that it is pretty hard to get back up to the grade that you had before. Also, another thing I think could be fixed is how your letter grades can affect your GPA. If you were to end a class with an A- you would have a 3.7 for your GPA. I think that this should be changed because an A- is a very good score to be getting and for some kids receiving a 3.7 on your GPA would be bad because it would drop your GPA. I think if all of these problems were fixed the LCPS grading system would be even better that it is right
