A large group of students in the United States makeup a large population of English language learners. Students who are considered English language learners undergo many challenges in their education, and without the necessary support and resources from their educators it can make it hard for them to succeed. A teacher plays a significant role in the success of a child, and it is crucial for them to be able to provide the proper education to students whose first language is not English. For the three and a half years I’ve been in high school, I have heard many opinions about teacher. Some being suggestions to a underclassman, review of the teacher, and some being very detail rants about a teacher. After hearing about those teacher, I wonder if a student should be allowed to give a grade to a teacher. I think that students giving rating or grades to a teacher is a good thing for many reasons. It is necessary for a teacher to have the students organized and transitions smoothly, but all the other little details, if thought of, help to make for a great lesson. A strong, outstanding teacher must manage the class efficiently and have some level of structure. Being a teacher is a journey that has much to do with learning about yourself and being aware that what happens in your classroom reflects only on how are you with yourself. Teachers are not conscious that they project into students, and that affects how things go in the classroom. I believe the first characteristic of a good teacher is that he/ she is always willing to analyze his/her teaching performance. Second the teacher is humble enough to receive input about the development and application of techniques, learning from it and improving.
