My role as a teacher is to guide each student in providing access to information that will benefit him or her in the real world. I should first have the knowledge of the students’ interests to be able to guide them and teach them. I will develop a curriculum around the students’ interests to motivate them to learn and work hard to master the skills necessary to reach their goals. I will incorporate themes, projects, presentations, group work, individual works, and hands-on learning to mold them to be active students. Students learn a lot better when they have a first hand experience of what was being taught to them instead of just giving them the lesson because it expands the student's’ knowledge. As a basketball coach, I will focus a lot on their basic fundamentals such as shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding, etc. It’s vitals for the players to learn the right fundamentals early on to put them on the right track. I will emphasize on defense drills, fast break, and just the right amount of offensive plays. Better defense will help players to not lose to other team or not lose by a lot. Fast break will get them easy baskets which they might need that are crucial during the game. It’s not always good to have too many offensive plays because many players forget them. I will pick the best offensive plays that I want the players to learn and will also consult them if it’s something they can execute during the game. I want everyone in the team, including other coaches and trainers, to show sportsmanship, teamwork, positive attitude, and respect to one another. I also want the players to feel like they’re part of a family whom they can communicate with, help in times of needs, and be able to remember 10 years from
